Dr Starverton Kautoke was born in Tonga and came to New Zealand in 2006 on a Tongan Government Scholarship to study Medicine at the University of Otago where he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB). He is currently the Evaluator for the Tongan Youth Suicide Prevention Group (Toko Collaboration) and prior to that has been a Psychiatric Registrar since 2014.
Starverton is one of the Editorial Committee Members for the Auckland Hospital and Middlemore Hospital RMO Handbook. He is also involved in ongoing Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course and Recertification. Most recently he was a Medical Education Fellow at Middlemore Hospital and an RMO representative on the CMH Clinical Ethics Advisory Committee, CMH Medication Safety Executive Group and an Executive member of the NZ Medical Association Doctors in Training Council (NZMA DiTC). He is also a frequent guest speaker for the ‘Health Could be 4 you’ CMH Programme to inspire and motivate high school students from high deprivation areas in South Auckland in promoting Health Sciences. Starverton has been a PMA Executive Board Member since 2012.
